Correctional officers work in prisons in Riverhead and Yaphank County, and other offices in Central Islip, Brentwood and Westhampton.

To take the exam:
Standard high school diploma or high school equivalency
Must be a US citizen
Must be a Suffolk County resident
Must be 21 years old (or 20 years and 6 months on the date of the written test)
No age restriction
Pass a medical, psychological and background investigation
Must pass Cooper’s fitness test
