In a heated exchange Monday night, Assistant District Attorney Demarris Evans defended his office and boss DA Chesa Boudin during a live segment on NBC Bay Area Tonight with presenter Raj Mathai. Evans debated his former colleagues, prosecutors Brooke Jenkins and Don du Bain, who recently resigned and joined the effort to recall Boudin. Jenkins and du Bain both accuse their former boss of making San Francisco more dangerous by steadily decreasing charges for violent offenders and, at times, ditching them altogether. Evans denied the charges, calling them politically motivated.
