Convicted murderer David Tefera, 58, is given a life sentence of 25 years

Roseville, California – On September 2, 2022, the Honorable Judge Penney sentenced 58-year-old David Tefera to 25 years to life in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

On January 19, 2018, the Roseville Police Department responded to the defendant’s home after Tefera called law enforcement to report the death of his wife. Response officers conducted a thorough investigation at the scene. Evidence found at the scene, along with the Placer County coroner ruling the death a homicide, led to Tefera’s arrest at his Placer County home.

First degree murder conviction

Jury selection began on April 18, 2022 and after hearing several weeks of evidence, the jury returned a guilty verdict on May 9.

The accused was convicted of the first degree murder of his wife.

“The professionalism, dedication and hard work of the Roseville Police Department was essential during the course of the case,” the assistant district attorney said. “The compelling evidence presented to the jury at trial was the product of thorough investigation and helped bring justice to this case.”
