Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Steve Smith to the Tenth Court of Appeals for a term that expires Dec.31, 2022, or until his successor is duly elected and qualified.

Steve smith of College Station is a judge for the 361st Brazos County District Court and previously served as a County Court Judge at Law # 1 and Presiding Judge and Associate Municipal Judge for College Station. He is certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the American Judges Association, the American Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas and its Judicial Section, where he served as president. In addition, he is a faculty member of the National Judicial College, a former faculty member of the board of trustees of the Texas Center for the Judiciary and the Texas Justice Court Training Center, and a former faculty member and former member of the board of trustees. administration of the Texas Municipal Courts Association. He is a board member and vice president of Fosters Home for Children in Stephenville and a former director of Abilene Christian University (ACU).
