El-Husseiny’s family found her body on a rooftop in the northern governorate with a piece of cloth wrapped around her neck and failed to revive her, the prosecution said in a statement on Thursday.
El-Husseiny, 21, was a student at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Kafr El-Sheikh University. El-Husseiny was honored by the Ministry of Sports after her team, Desouk Sporting Club, won the title of Egypt’s invented racket sport, speedball, in 2016 in Poland.
El-Husseiny died in hospital, police told the prosecutor’s office on Monday. Signs of injuries were found on his body and around his neck, according to the police report.
The prosecution arrested the accused following an investigation. The accused confessed to the crime, claiming to have followed the victim, taken her to her parents’ roof and stolen her gold earrings and cell phone.
As he tried to flee, he forcibly grabbed her scarf, which became entangled around her neck, knocking her to the ground.
The accused then fled, the prosecution said.
El-Husseiny’s parents told the prosecution that a stranger called them using their daughter’s phone and tried to mislead them about her whereabouts, before telling them where she was. actually stood.
