Authorities refer 205 prosecutions for violation of Covid-19 precautionary measures

Doha: Interior Ministry (MoI) officials have stepped up efforts to take action against individuals who violate various Covid-19 precautionary measures in the country and have reported 205 violations in the country.

203 were reserved for not wearing masks in public and one person for not having installed the Ehteraz application.

The ministry also referred a person for violating the limit of people inside a vehicle, which is specified at 4, including the driver, except the same family members.

The officials referred them to the prosecution for violations.

So far, the ministry has referred thousands of people to the prosecution for violating Covid-19 precautionary measures in the country.

“In accordance with the cabinet decision based on Law No. 17 of 1990 on infectious diseases, the competent authorities referred several people to the prosecutor’s office for violating the COVID19 preventive and conservatory measures in force,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The competent authorities call on the public to respect the precautionary and preventive decisions in force to protect them and others from the spread of the coronavirus in society,” the statement added.

The Home Office and health authorities have continuously warned the public to follow precautionary measures such as wearing masks, respecting social distancing and restricting the number of people in vehicles to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
